Our History

The Hub Convenience Stores story begins in 2011 when Chris, Gregg, and Todd Fitterer purchased commercial property for development of a convenience store in Dickinson, ND. The original plan was to build a small retail store on a prime location to support the fuel distribution network of their company, Fitterer Oil.

At around the same time in Minneapolis, Minnesota, convenience store industry veteran and Dickinson native, Jared Scheeler, was growing restless in the company he worked for and yearned for an opportunity to start his dream company on his own in the convenience industry. In addition, Jared and his family’s desire to relocate to their birthplace was growing stronger and stronger.

Through a few mutual connections, Chris Fitterer and Jared Scheeler were connected in October of 2012. After a few in person meetings, the two realized there was a great deal of synergy between each other, and from that synergy the idea of The Hub Convenience Stores was born.

Chris and Jared coined The Hub name collectively because it represents what they hope to deliver each and every day in the business – a hub of energy, the source of fun, and the premier convenience destination for residents of North Dakota.

The Hub Convenience Stores aims to break every negative stereotype of the convenience store industry by delivering quality food products, clean facilities and restrooms, great security and lighting, and world-class customer service.

Within The Hub you will find three individual sub-brands that all play off the “gear” theme of The Hub’s main logo: The Grind Coffee, The Chill Refreshments, and a food service program.
